Taskmaster-themed Graduation party
This custom-designed game for a college graduation party included three fast-paced rounds of competitive chaos where the guest of honor got to act as Taskmaster!

Monk & Robot: A Cozy Book Adventure (MIBA Spring Break Road Trip)
Midwest booksellers at the MIBA conference played a Blanket Fort-designed Book Adventure in May. We played an original Monk & Robot-inspired game (a not-at-all-ruthless team competition where the points are made up and nobody is keeping track), connected with fellow book lovers, and were still in bed by 10pm.

2016-2023
From 2016 to 2023, St. Louis Fantasy Maps was my laboratory โ designing citywide scavenger hunts, escape rooms, and a full-scale original board game that drew hundreds of paying participants across the region.
Every experience was built around the same instinct that drives Blanket Fort: that the best gatherings don’t just bring people together, they are vehicles for connection, joy, and new memories.
Testimonials

“I donโt know how anybody figures out how to make such cool things!” – Amanda D.
A St. Louis family, recently returned from the Great St. Louis Treasure Hunt, *gushes*.

“Puzzles were really clever, the story was easy to follow, and the map was beautiful – we had lots of fun!” –Melissa T.
Local Scavenger Hunts
I designed both of these hunts with both whimsy and inclusion in mind, using roles like scribe, way finder, and archivist to create different “jobs” for different abilities and interests. (This avoided the “escape room trap” where teams actually leave more irritated with each other!)

Kits were completely analog, which created a mostly screen-free experience. They incorporated vintage paper, artfully-created clues, and actual potion ingredients, which provided a strong sense of immersion and wonder.

Escape Rooms
During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, I pivoted to create downloadable game kits that worked both for virtual Zoom gatherings and for people sheltering in place with family or pods.
These Escape Games featured a choose-your-own-adventure format where teams navigated fantasy quests using ciphers and hilarious clues. Both kits combined digital puzzles with physical cut-out components, plus curated playlists and party setup ideas.

Limited Edition Board Game: Rey’s Gambit
My physical board game was an absolute delight to build. I made a small number copies and offered them to a limited number of super-fans.

In addition to these games, I designed dozens of prints, t-shirts, stickers, and greeting cards. The designs themselves evoked surprise, wonder, and glee:
- Rustic Tolkien-style maps of St. Louis neighborhoods
- Hamilton-Star Wars mashup posters
- St. Louis Marauder’s Map complete with wax seal
- Princess Leia social justice messages
I sold my wares at farmers markets, local shops, and online while coordinating all aspects of production and marketing. See more here!
Closing the Shop

In late 2023, I wound down the shop, holding a massive closing sale and donating 100% of proceeds to St. Louis Queer Support & Healing. A great way to end an era!
