A story-based game for Dungeon Crawler Carl fans: five bookstores, one afternoon, a catty sidekick, & no guarantees your team will survive.
What’s this?
On August 8, 2026, the Dungeon opened. St. Louis saw over 185 Crawlers journey through five local bookstores, clad in tierras and boxer shorts and muttering about puzzle fragments and Donut’s Underground Feed.
Epic.
This was the first of its kind event in St. Louis, and Crawler feedback was overwhelmingly positive! Folks want more fan events, more chances to talk about this beloved series, and more opportunitites to have fun with other fans.
Bookseller feedback was off the charts. It was the second best-selling day of the year for one bookshop, and a 66% increase in sales for another. The book crawl was a creative and fun way to introduce, and re-introduce fans to some of St. Louis’ most beloved indie bookstores.
Original Event Description
Assemble your team for an afternoon crawling across five St. Louis independent bookstores — completing challenges, collecting loot, and earning XP at every stop. The Syndicate is watching. So is Donut. Only one of them is rooting for you.
A story-immersive, city-wide adventure designed for Dungeon Crawler Carl fans. The Syndicate tells us it’ll be one of the best times you’ll have all summer.
Contracted dungeon stops include FIVE independent bookstores: Left Bank Books (which is the first stop of our Crawl,) Leviathan Bookstore, Subterranean Books, Read a Book STL, and Novel Neighbor.
✅ Build your team of 2–4 Crawlers (or travel solo – no sidekicks to complicate things!) and choose your start time for this 3-hour self-guided crawl.
✅ Once you’ve entered, the Syndicate will send you “The Crawler Survival Kit” on August 1, which has everything you need for your, ahem, adventure.
✅ Crawler space is tight for this one, so don’t delay on purchasing your entry.
